Description
This course will entail a focused and critical review and assessment of the state-of-the-art in a focused subfield of chemical/biochemical research, under the direction of a faculty member (course instructor). Students will perform an exhaustive review of published literature in a particular sub-field, determined by student and faculty member. By the end of the course, students are required to submit a concise "critical" review/assessment of the literature on this topic to thei course instructor (i.e., faculty mentor) and to a committee of four other faculty. This presentation of the information from this document will then be made by the student to his/her committee where the student's breadth of knowledge of the sub-field as well as his/her ability to critically evaluate the associated literature will be evaluated.
