Description
Study of a particular topic in financial economics. Topics will be published in the Schedule of Classes. This course is repeatable for credit with different topic. Students may complete a maximum of 6 credits.
Enrollment Requirements
You must have completed ECON 374 with a grade of "C" or better before taking this class.
Notes
Topic: Crises, Bubbles, and Frauds -- The course will use academic research, documentaries, and films to examine high profile financial events in the recent past. These will include the Dot-com stock bubble of the 1990s, the Financial Crisis and Great Recession in the late 2000s, the Enron financial fraud and bankruptcy, and the Barings Bank collapse. The course delivery mode is asynchronous. (There are no regularly scheduled class meetings.) This is a fully online course. It requires reliable internet access and computer literacy; and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments according to deadlines. In place of classroom activities, online work may include independent mastery assignments, discussion boards, videos with quizzes, writing assignments, and other active learning experiences. Students are responsible for completing these online learning experiences by the specified deadlines and in accordance with instructor requirements.
