Description
A broad overview of contemporary biological science. Major areas include the biochemistry of energy transformation, cell structure and function, Mendelian, molecular and population genetics, development and differentiation, plant and animal physiology, evolution, and ecology. Recommended Preparation: high school biology and chemistry. Note: This introductory biology course is designed for non-majors and may not be used towards the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, B.S., Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, B.S., Biological Sciences, B.A., or Biological Sciences, B.S.

This is a fully online course. It requires reliable internet access and computer literacy; and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments according to deadlines. In place of classroom activities, online work may include independent mastery assignments, discussion boards, videos with quizzes, writing assignments, and other active learning experiences. Students are responsible for completing these online learning experiences by the specified deadlines and in accordance with instructor requirements. This course will be offered with an asynchronous format.
