Data Visualization Concepts -- The field and practice of data visualization is rapidly expanding to provide ways to quickly and powerfully communicate data-derived information in any domain. In this course students will learn and apply the foundational concepts needed to produce truthful and impactful data visualizations for both discovery and communication. The course places a special emphasis on the design and story-building aspects of data visualization. ***This is a fully online course. It requires reliable internet access and computer literacy and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments according to deadlines. In place of classroom activities, online work may include independent mastery assignments, discussion boards, videos with quizzes, writing assignments, and other active learning experiences. Each student will produce a data visualization story based on their own interests. Students are responsible for completing these online learning experiences by the specified deadlines and in accordance with instructor requirements.
