Description
An introduction to medical terminology and the structure of medical words including prefixes, suffixes, roots and combining forms. Course includes the study of pronunciation, spelling, and definitions of medical terms, as well as anatomical, pathological and surgical terminology as related to body's systems.
Enrollment Requirements
You must have completed ENGL 100 or ENGL 100Y or must have a minimum score of 550 on the SAT verbal (43 on the ACT) or must have scored a 3 or better on the LRC English placement test

This is a fully online course. It requires reliable internet access and computer literacy; and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments according to deadlines. In place of classroom activities, online work may include independent mastery assignments, discussion boards, videos with quizzes, writing assignments, and other active learning experiences. Students are responsible for completing these online learning experiences by the specified deadlines and in accordance with instructor requirements. You must have completed ENGL100 or ENGL 100Y with a C or better. Students can also take this course if they have LRC placement for ENGL100/100Y . This course is part of the UMBC Course Materials Initiative in which reduced pricing was negotiated directly with the publisher for all students enrolling in this course. The course materials are provided in a common digital platform to all students; a maximum course materials charge of $70.75 will be included on all students' tuition bills for these materials (so students are not to buy these materials from any other source).
