Marriage and family as social institutions. Primary relationships in marriage, their development in courtship, formalization in marriage and extension to children. The course draws on materials from related disciplines, as well as from sociology. Special emphasis on marriage and change in sex roles in modern societies. Recommended Preparation: SOCY 101 or ANTH 211

This is a fully online course. It requires reliable internet access and computer literacy; and the ability to self-manage independent learning assignments according to deadlines. In place of classroom activities, online work may include independent mastery assignments, discussion boards, videos with quizzes, writing assignments, and other active learning experiences.
