Description
A study of key concepts, skills, or themes in the areas of media and communication studies. Topics to be announced each semester offered. Recommended Preparation: MCS 222. This course is repeatable for a maximum of 6 credits or 2 attempts.
Notes
Monday classes will meet only two times on January 6 and January 13. UMBC will be closed for the MLK Jr. holiday on Monday, January 20, 2020. *** Students will learn the basics of broadcasting sporting events via participating in ESPN broadcasts of UMBC basketball games. Students will have the opportunity to assist in the ESPN game broadcasts, learn and work in the production truck and learn about camera operations, graphics engines and how to make highlight packages, among other tasks. Students will also learn about how to market and promote athletic events as well as some of the inner working of college and professional athletics. This course counts towards the New Media and Applied Communication elective area for Media and Communication Studies majors.
