Description

Notes
Topic: European Public Opinion This course will investigate how citizens participate in politics in different contexts, why people from different backgrounds have different points of view concerning politics, and how such differences matter for what citizens expect of the democratic process. The text we will utilize in this course focuses on differences among people in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. In this way the course is truly comparative. Each course day we will cover a different chapter concerning the political orientations of citizens in different countries, how elections and electoral systems matter for how preferences are articulated in government, and what institutional and cultural differences among people in different countries mean for democratic performance. This is an online course.
