Topic: African Drumming and Dance This hands-on workshop teaches the techniques of West African drumming as well as the cultural and historical significance of the djembe drum. Students will learn using the ensemble approach, will learn specific musical styles and traditions from singing West African songs, and will learn on traditional and contemporary African musical instruments. No prior experience with African drumming, singing, or dancing is necessary.
